Sunday July 29th

Each year, the Tour de Trails bike ride celebrates Shoreview as a bicycle-friendly community and is a terrific way for family and friends to experience firsthand the exceptional bicycle paths that cover the length and breadth of the city. The enjoyable summer tour showcases the most scenic parkland the city offers, and participants bypass busy roads and highways by using a series of bridges and tunnels on the trail system. The short route is 9 miles and the long route is approximately 22 miles. Route maps and a link to online registration are available at: https://www.shoreviewmn.gov/government/departments/public-works/trails/tour-de-trails

Cost: $7 per individual or $20 per family. (Family price applies to up to four participants-families of more than four complete a separate registration for additional family members.) The event cost includes a Tour de Trails t-shirt for each participant. Bicycle helmets are required, including children in bike seats or trailers as well as riders. No one will be allowed to sign in without a helmet.

Pre-registration is accepted online through Thursday, July 26, and you can also register on the day of the ride. Registration is open from 7:30 to 8:30. The ride starts from the Deluxe Corporation parking lot, across the street from Island Lake Park, and check-in is at the south end of the lot, under the water tower. TCBC members can get mileage credit by signing up with the ride leader, who will be present for a short time until about 8:00. But you don’t need to wait for a leader — just register/check in for the Tour, take off at your own pace and follow the marked route; then email your mileage to the ride leader at k0lr@yahoo.com (the second character is the number zero), or text or phone 612 516 2053. There are no official food stops on the ride, although there’s usually a water stop on the Rice Creek North Trail about halfway through the long route.

As with other outreach rides, you will NOT be covered by TCBC insurance.

After the ride, you can head across the street to Island Lake Park, where there will be food vendors and a number of other Slice of Shoreview Days attractions: https://sliceofshoreview.com/schedule/
