Each year, the Tour de Trails bike ride celebrates Shoreview as a bicycle-friendly community and is a terrific way for family and friends to experience firsthand the bicycle paths that cover the length and breadth of the city. Three routes are offered this year: 10, 15 or 22 miles, and shortcuts are available. Tour details and a link to online registration are at: Tour-de-Trails | City of Shoreview
Cost: $7 per individual or $20 for a family of four. The event cost includes a Tour de Trails T-shirt for each participant. Bicycle helmets are required, including children in bike seats or trailers as well as riders. No one will be allowed to sign in without a helmet.
Registration is available online, and you can also register by mail or in person at Shoreview City Hall. I don’t believe you can register on the day of the ride at the check-in table; however you may be able to register online and show your confirmation email. Check in at the ride start between 7:30 and 8:30am. The new start location this year is at Wilson Park, 815 County Road F West in Shoreview. TCBC members can get mileage credit by signing up with the ride leader, who will be present for a short time around 8:00. But you don’t need to wait for a leader — just check in for the Tour, take off at your own pace and follow the marked route; then send your mileage to Lyle at k0lr@yahoo.com (phone 612 516 2053).
There is no SAG support or official food stop on the Tour, although there is a water stop on the long route. As with other outreach rides, you will NOT be covered by TCBC insurance.
