Mankato Weekend (August 17, 18, 19)
We will be doing BC and C rides through beautiful areas south of the Twin Cities. Friday is a C ride on the Sakatah Trail; we’ll meet at the trailhead in Faribault and ride out and back for 33 miles. Saturday we will have BC and C ride leaders for a ride south of Mankato. We’ll use a 42 mile route similar to that for the Mankato River Ramble, a fabulous ride in early October. Sunday’s C ride is being developed; we’ll head west out of Mankato and loop back for about 25 miles. Please join us for one, two, or all three days. For Friday and Sunday, if you are a faster rider, you are welcome to ride ahead. Cue sheets will be provided.
TCBC membership is required to participate in this ride.
Kindly let at least one of the leaders know you will be joining us, as we will send final details before the ride.

Friday, August 17: [ C ride, 10:00 a.m., 33 miles]
We will bike from Faribault to Watertown on the Sakatah Singing Hills Trail. This is a paved rail-to-trail. We’ll have lunch and return, for a total of about 33 miles.
If we get ambitious or if the day is too perfect to stop biking, we can extend the ride to Elysian, and have lunch there. This is a total of about 45 miles.
From the Twin Cities, head south on Interstate 35. Take exit # 59, Highway 21, and go south on 21 for about 1.5 miles. The White Sands Park Sakatah Trailhead is on the right, across from a car dealership. Toilets and water are available at the trailhead. Gas stations are nearby if you need supplies.
A heat index of 90 or rain may cancel the ride. Please call if there’s any doubt.
This is a no drop ride. One of the leaders will ride sweep. Faster, self-sufficient riders are welcome to join us and ride on ahead.
Saturday, August 18: [ BC and C rides, 10:00 a.m., 42 miles]
We explore the scenic Mankato River area on Saturday, August 18. Mankato is about 75 miles from the Twin Cities. We will start at Land of Memories Park in Mankato and ride 40 to 45 miles through Minneopa Falls, over the Red Jacket Trestle Bridge, on to quiet country roads, to more falls, the Minnemishinona Falls, and back to our starting point. There will be rest stops, a lunch stop, and many photo ops. We can plan an evening dinner for those staying after the ride.
A heat index of 90 or rain may cancel the ride or alter its length. Please contact the leaders if there’s any doubt.
This is a no drop ride. There will be at least two C ride leaders; the BC folks can ride at their own comfortable pace. Cue sheets will be available.
Sunday, August 19: [ C ride, 9:00 a.m., about 25 miles]
We will have details on the route for Sunday later; we will plan for a 25 mile ride.
All rides are no drop rides. One of the leaders will ride sweep. Faster, self-sufficient riders are welcome to join us and ride on ahead. We will make cue sheets available and the route will be posted on RideWithGPS.
Please check the ride calendar and the Overnight Rides page for more details.
