Herbs Bench-Clareyse Nelson
Clareyse Nelson gave the board an update regarding Herb’s Bench. The present location of the bench is in the way of the new Hiawatha Substation that Xcel Energy is building. Pete May and Clareyse will meet with a representative from the Railroad Authority and determine a new spot if necessary. Diane Ziemer will find out more information from the project manager at Xcel Energy.
Review of June Meeting notes – approved as corrected. Minutes are passed as corrected Gina Mc Crone to forward to Jim Pederson to post.
Roger had a difficult time itemizing merchandise sold on the Square System that we run our credit card sales through. Roger will work with Paul Wiltse and Tom Brix to resolve. The Watermelon Committee is still finalizing expenses in order to balance. There are also a few sponsors that are past due on their payments to us. Patt will follow up with Ginny Hollaran on past due sponsors.
Watermelon Update-Gina Sapia
501 people attended and 55 were kids. The caterers put in very long hours to prepare the food and did not charge us for all of their long hours. The board determined we should send them a gratitude check. Patt will write the check with a thank you note. The left over food went to the Dorothy Day Center they were thrilled to have the food. Board approved motion to tip the caterer. Proceeds made on this year’s Watermelon Ride will be donated to “Cycles for Change” group.
The Watermelon Committee will get together to recap and look at possible new committee members and new location for next year. Doug will do a recap for the next news letter.
Pete Hawkins talked with Crystal Peterson the person who was injured, was struck by a car going 35 mph in Stillwater. She flew off the windshield and was run over. Her helmet as smashed she was transferred to Regions Hospital and will have a positive recovery. Charges were also filed against the driver of the vehicle. The Board gave Recognition to Gina Sapia and the rest of the committee for another fantastic job done this year.
Leadership succession for Officers in 2014 was addressed. Next year will be Patt’s 6th year on board and this will be the maximum time she can serve. Patt is willing to help mentor future new officers next year. Future nominations were discussed as well.
Gina McCrone discussed with Free Wheel about the Greenway being a possible option for our gathering after the Halloween Ride. Gina checked out Brackett Park which would be a possible option to utilize. Parking could be a problem there. Gina will look at possible utilization of Minnehaha Academy or Sullivan Elementary for parking. Gina will go ahead and reserve and determine if they need a certificate of insurance. Gina will be in contact with Julie K. to see if she is still interested in handling the meal again this year.
Bike shops want to know if we are going to get new Atlas’s. Solicit volunteers who may have interest to start up a new Atlas Committee. Pete May will be the Board liaison to that project.
Key Volunteer Picnic
The Key Volunteer Picnic will be held August 12th at Como Park. The Board’s thank you to key volunteers. Patt to email key volunteer list to Board Members to ensure we have not forgotten anyone.

Doug Nelson – Steve S. and Patt will need to do a little more with editing as Doug will be gone on the MS Tram. There may not be an August Enews due to deluge from the Watermelon ride.
Ensure everyone is on top of their priorities.

Tom Brix Coordinating All Club Ride August 31 need ride leaders
The August Board meeting will be cancelled due to key Volunteer picnic.
Bike Walk Twin Cities contacted Paul Frenz looking for volunteers to do a 6 to 8 hour night ride in Minneapolis. This would not be supported by TCBC.
