Today I went on my “Winter Trails” route to see if the trails had been plowed yet. I was happy to see that all of the trails, except for the Gateway Trail, had been plowed and were mostly dry. But during the ride it started to snow again and there was about an inch of snow by the time that I finished. On my return on the Gateway Trail, I noticed that the trail had been plowed since my earlier passage. Overall, the trails were in much better condition than the Saint Paul streets, especially streets with cars parked alongside the bike lanes.
If you do this ride, I do recommend using a bike with studded tires. There is the possibility of ice on the trails if overnight temperatures get below freezing.
