Fat Biking in Cuyuna
Red Rider and I are leading 4 rides in Cuyuna. They are in the schedule for January 15-18. Right now the trail conditions in Cuyuna are the best that they have ever been! If you don't have a Fat Bike, they rent awesome Fat Bikes at the Red Raven! Snowshoeing is also a very good option, if you aren't into Fat Biking, and the Red Raven rents snowshoes.
Red Rider and I rode the trails this afternoon and they are awesome! They got an inch of fresh snow last night and it made the trails just gorgeous. They are grooming the trails as I write this. The weather forecast calls for additional snow tonight ending about noon tomorrow. The temperature at the ride start will be about 10 degrees and will only get to 12 degrees. This is about perfect for Fat Biking!
The trail conditions at Cuyuna are just about perfect right now. The groomers have been busy working the trails since last Wednesday's snow. Today the temperature will be 7 degrees at ride start and warming up to 15 degrees. Snow is forecast to start around noon today and continuing until about noon on Saturday. With that much snow in the forecast, we will probably switch from Fat Bikes to Snowshoes.
It looks like we got 8-10 inches of snow last night! They are currently grooming the Yawkey Unit. The trails are closed to Fat Biking today, but they are open for snowshoeing. So we will be riding our snowshoes today 😀 . They are hoping the trails will reopen for Fat Biking Sunday morning.
