Seeking New Members for Board of Directors  

The Cycling Museum of Minnesota is seeking applicants to our Board of Directors. CMM is a museum-in-development located in Minneapolis. 

Mission: The Cycling Museum of Minnesota is a hub for unlocking the transformative role of bicycles. 

Vision: Through our work, people will better understand the foundational and continual influence of cycling and cyclists on our past, present and future.

Purpose and Activities: The Cycling Museum of Minnesota’s purpose is to be a physical presence for the rich and varied history of cycling in Minnesota and beyond. CMM acquires and maintains collections to support programs including exhibitions, school and public programs, research, advocacy and more. The Cycling Museum of Minnesota is committed to developing strategic partnerships and participating in collaborative opportunities with organizations whose missions are similarly aligned. 

Board members will have the opportunity to work with a committed, ambitious volunteer team in a community excited about our project’s potential. Find more information at cmm.bike

We welcome all applicants. We are particularly seeking expertise in the following areas:  

∙ Communications/social media/web design

∙ Legal  

∙ Finance  

∙ Fundraising and relationship-building (individual and business)  

∙ Program/event planning  

The Cycling Museum of Minnesota will strive to have a Board of Directors that represents the full diversity of Minnesota and the cycling community.  

Board members will commit to a two-year term and the following:  

One monthly meeting of the full Board (typically on a Monday evening); At least one additional monthly/periodic subcommittee meeting (Collections and Exhibits, Communications, Finance/Development, and/or Programs); and anticipate a few hours of monthly service outside of meetings to develop, plan, and staff Museum events, programs, and other efforts.

Deadline for applications is September 1, 2021.

Applications will be reviewed with the goal of presenting a slate of nominees for a vote at the meeting of the full Board in July. Terms will begin in August.

Currently, board meetings occur remotely due to COVID-19, otherwise, in person at the museum.
