The city of Saint Paul is seeking your comments for the Summit Avenue Bike Plan by February 28th. Also, there is a public meeting on March 9th where you may wish to voice your support.

Here is the information provided by the Saint Paul Bicycle Coalition, with links to a short video, the comment web page, and information about the upcoming meeting:

Comment on the Summit Avenue Master Plan

Before Tuesday, February 28, if you haven't already, please submit a comment in favor of the 90% Summit Avenue Master Plan, currently posted on Engagestpaul. We are pleased with the plan and think it would be a great project. At its core, it would switch the position of the bike lanes and parked cars. The parked cars and curbs would be moved inwards and the bikeway would be moved outside the parked cars, up on the newly re-positioned curbs. It would shorten crossing distances for pedestrians, reducing the number of people who currently get hit walking across Summit, and it would create a safer, more comfortable bikeway that could be maintained in winter. You can watch the city's well-made, brief video summary of the project at--

Then you can submit a comment (and/or read the entire plan) at--

Send Comments to Parks and Recreation Commission

Thursday, March 9, 6:30 - 8:30pm, Arlington Hills Community Center, 1200 Payne Avenue, The Parks and Recreation Commission (PRC) will consider the Summit Avenue Master Plan proposal. Save Our Street (SOS) are attempting to kill the Summit Avenue Master Plan proposal by getting this commission to vote against it and they have been turning out to PRC's monthly meetings. So we need people to turn out to the meeting and/or submit e-mail comments to--
liz.mcdonald@ci.stpaul.mn.us
E-mailed comments should include "PRC PUBLIC COMMENT" in the subject line and may be submitted up until 12pm the day BEFORE the meeting. Try to keep comments brief as there is bound to be a lot of repetition.
