I screwed up and did not get this listed as an Outreach ride, so you won't be able to claim those big miles for TCBC credit. However, it's a fun family ride that doesn't require a 2-hour drive and a bank loan to participate.
Each year, the Tour de Trails bike ride celebrates Shoreview as a bicycle-friendly community and is a terrific way for family and friends to experience firsthand the bicycle paths that cover the length and breadth of the city. The short route will be around 8 miles and the long route is about 22 miles, with a number of shortcuts available. Tour details, route maps and a link to online registration are available at: Tour de Trails information and registration
Cost: $7 per individual or $20 per family. (Family price applies to up to four participants-families of more than four complete a separate registration for additional family members.) The event cost includes a Tour de Trails t-shirt for each participant. Bicycle helmets are required, including children in bike seats or trailers as well as riders. No one will be allowed to sign in without a helmet.
Registration is available online, and you can also register by mail or in person at Shoreview City Hall. I don't believe you can register on the day of the ride at the check-in table; however you may be able to register online and show your confirmation email. Check in at the ride start between 7:30 and 8:30am. The ride starts from the former Deluxe Corporation parking lot, 3680 Victoria Street North, across the street from Island Lake Park, and check-in is at the south end of the lot, under the water tower. The routes are marked, and maps will be available at check-in. There is no SAG support or official food stop on the Tour, although there is a water stop on the long route. Remember, this is an unofficial ride and there will be no TCBC mileage credit or insurance coverage. But you do get a t-shirt to add to your collection!
