This hike offers a chance to see less-traveled parks and trails along the Mississippi River. It's an out and back walk through Mississippi Gorge and East River Flats Parks. If we're lucky, Bridal Veil Falls will not have melted away and we will get a chance to see it. But the ice on the trails may not have melted either and could be treacherous, especially on the steep downhill road from East River Parkway. Once again, ice cleats are recommended. Sigh! This Ride with GPS map shows our approximate hiking route and the location where we'll meet: East River Flats Hike
Free parking (at least it was free the last time I was there a couple of years ago) is available along East River Terrace, which is a very short street that runs parallel to East River Parkway. We'll meet in the vicinity of 2150 East River Terrace, Minneapolis, MN. I get there by taking Pelham Blvd south across I-94 and immediately turning right (west) onto St. Anthony Ave. You'll have to ask Google Maps for the best route from your location.
There are no restroom facilities at the start. There may be a portable toilet halfway through the walk, but that's not guaranteed, so be prepared. Call 612 516 2053 for further information.
Hi, Lyle...I missed the notice of this hike; I hope it was fun, it was a great afternoon! Any chance you'll be doing it again soon? Thanks...
Mike
I don't usually repeat hiking routes sooner than a month or so, and we will be doing mostly biking by then (I hope!). But it's a pretty simple out and back route, and any TCBC member can post activities on this Forum -- no need to be a ride leader!
