Rain, rain, go away!! It looks like it will Tuesday, but the ski conditions have deteriorated so let's go for a walk. Meet at the Phalen Lake Beach House, 1400 Phalen Drive E., St. Paul 55106 at 1 p.m. Lyle and I both know the area pretty well so we'll walk around the lake, maybe meander onto the Gateway or Vento Trails for a short time and then back around Round Lake to the Beach House. We'll be on asphalt paths but even with the rain, there could be some icy spots so ice cleats or YakTrax just in case. Plan on between 4-5 miles, about an hour and a half or you could short-cut and just go around Lake Phalen for about an hour.
There's a portable toilet by the Beach House, one up by the Golf Course parking lot and possibly others along the route, but I haven't scouted it out to make sure, so plan ahead. Leashed dogs are welcome.
Please don't leave any valuables in your car while you're walking with us since there have been car break-ins in that area.
