The Battle Creek Ravine trail down to Point Douglas Road should have some little waterfalls along the creek and be a pretty fun and scenic hike. Plus it'll be a fairly windy day, some of the route is sheltered and we'll have a tailwind heading back up the trail along Lower Afton Road.

We'll meet at the round pavilion with the green roof. I'll give you directions further down. There's a portable toilet at the start but no water. Here's a map of the route just for reference:

Battle Creek 5-mile hike map

The route is all on asphalt trails because turf trails will be muddy. Route goes down the ravine trail to Point Douglas Road and then takes the Battle Creek bike trail on the gradual uphill along Lower Afton Road, through a park trail and back. On our past hikes, we've seen Eagles on the lower end of the trail down toward the river.

Leashed dogs are welcome. And you could do a partway out and back if you don't feel up to the whole distance.

Use the Battle Creek Park Water Works address of 2401 Upper Afton Rd, Maplewood, MN 55109. Entrance to the parking lot is .2 miles east on your left of the 4-way stop sign at the corner of McKnight Rd N and Upper Afton Rd. The big round pavilion is right across the parking lot from the Water Park. Look for us along the western edge of the parking lot. Portable toilet there and one at the other end of the park by Lower Afton Road. Bring water and a snack in case you feel faint along the way and need nourishment.

Any questions or to let us know to watch for you -- call or text me at 612-381-6711 or Lyle at 612-516-2053.

HOPEFULLY, NO RAIN OR SNOW, BUT PLEASE CHECK BACK HERE ON THE FORUM IF THE FORECAST CHANGES IN CASE WE HAVE TO CANCEL.
