Biographies of the 2027 Twin Cities Bicycling Club Board of Directors candidates:

Gordon Fink (Incumbent)

As an avid, if not smart, cyclist since my high school years, I have
enjoyed road racing, commuting, club riding, and building up bikes from
eBay acquisitions. I’m mostly a road rider, with occasional forays to
local gravel.
I’ve been on the Technology Committee since 2017, and serve as committee
chair and board liaison. I’ve been a board member since 2022.
My current cycling interests are creating new routes to lead, gravel
bikes and gravel biking, and mourning all the bikes I sold moving from
house to condo.

It is difficult for me to believe that I have already served two years on the TCBC board. I am interested in extending my tenure on the Board of Directors for an addition two-year term. I have been a TCBC member for roughly twenty-five years, during which time there has been a national trend in decreased bike club participation. While TCBC continues to be a strong club, I understand the vitality of our club depends on diverse bike calendar offerings that include not only road, but also mountain, fat and gravel rides. I hope to be able to continue to contribute to the TCBC board’s efforts to ensure the long-term livelihood of TCBC.

Richard Dale

I have been an enthusiastic cyclist since sometime in the early 80’s, when two of my colleagues at Control Data (one of whom is a current TCBC board member) convinced me that it would be worth my while for me to ride a bike to work. Shortly afterwards I joined AYH (later reborn as TCBC) and have been riding ever since.

After being away from TCBC (although not away from cycling) I rejoined TCBC in 2022 after I retired. I have enjoyed making a lot of new friends, as well as renewing friendships from my time before. For the last two years I’ve been leading a weekly BC ride out of Lions Creek Park i Coon rapids.

I’m working on reducing my stable of bicycles and have discovered that I have wheel issues. I guess I like wheels. As best I can tell, I have roughly 1.5 extra sets of wheels for every bicycle. They hang like so many oversized Christmas decorations from the rafters in my garage.

Ann Harris

I have been a TCBC member for 16 years and have now ridden more than 37,000 miles with the club on more than 1,100 rides. I have served on the board for six years, served as Vice President for two years, and am currently the Merchandise Coordinator.

I am passionate about our club, and I can’t help talking about TCBC every opportunity I get! I carry TCBC business cards in my jersey pocket and hand them out whenever someone inquires about our club on a ride. (“Yes, I’m sure they showed interest!?”)

I am often thinking of ways that we can be more visible in the community and have been a bike lead for the Twin Cities Marathon and other running races in the Twin Cities area while wearing our club jersey, of course!

I have really enjoyed becoming more and more involved with TCBC. This club has given me so much joy, new friends, and a lifestyle that I now embrace.

I believe that listening, contributing, and compromising are necessary skills for serving on the TCBC board of directors. We serve a great variety of cyclists, and it’s important to represent all levels of our cycling club. I try to keep an open mind and consider new ideas while respecting all the volunteers from the past who have made our club what it is today. I believe I have experience and attributes that would be helpful as a board member, and I am honored to be considered for the opportunity to serve again.
