1 TUE 10:00 AM A/B 35-45 mi. Minnetonka Miles. Depart from Minnetonka City Hall, west of I-494 on Minnetonka Blvd and Williston Rd, NW parking lot by ice arena. Five sensational routes to the lake, neighborhoods and beyond. Includes rolling hills with a friendly rest stop. Self sufficient B riders are strongly encouraged to come on out. 1 TUE 10:00 AM B 26-69 mi. Gateway Express. Depart from Maplewood Community Center, 2100 White Bear Ave., Maplewood, MN 55109. Please park at the south end of the parking lot. Water and bathrooms are available at the community center. This ride features the Gateway Trail, a scenic, shaded, and little wind trail. The ride has extensions into scenic Washington County. The easiest ride is doing the Gateway Trail out to Pine Point and back - 26 mi. Ride leader chooses which extensions to ride. Good maps and cue sheets of extensions provided. To reach the ride: From State Hwy 36 exit White Bear Ave., and go South approx., 1.5 mi. 1 TUE 5:30 PM B 18-25 mi. TWO SKYLINES. Depart from The Coffee Grounds at 1579 Hamline Ave. in Falcon Heights, that's just north of Hoyt on Hamline. Don't park in The Coffee Grounds lot but on nearby streets or in the Como Lutheran Church lot at tha SW corner of Hamline & Hoyt. An urban ride featuring views of St. Paul & Minneapolis downtown skylines. The Coffee Grounds offers fine pre & post ride snacks & beverages. 1 TUE 5:30 PM A/B 25-30 mi. Bunker Hills and Beyond. Depart from Bunker Hills Activity Center, 550 Bunker Lake Boulevard NW, Andover, MN. 1 TUE 5:30 PM A/B 36/33/29/24 mi. THE ACAPULCO RIDE. Depart from The Valley Ridge Mall, Stillwater. From I-694, take Hwy 36 east for 6.5 miles. Turn left on Washington Ave (first stoplight past the Hwy 5 overpass) Take an immediate right on the frontage road for 1/4 mile to the Acapulco Restaurant on the left. ***(Note earlier departure. Miles will decrease as daylight lessens) Enjoy the best cycling roads this side of Wisconsin! This old classic offers a flat start and finish with lovely hills in between. Leader will set an easy pace for the first three miles to ensure a proper warm-up. The Acapulco Ride certainly attracts some faster pace riders, however, we draw an even larger group that tends to stay together at a much more relaxed A/B pace. The shorter routes offer the same flats with fewer climbs. If you've been hesitant to give this ride a try, by all means, check it out!!! Dinner on the patio afterward. 1 TUE 5:45 PM A 27-32 mi. Gears Tears & Fears. Depart from Temple of Aaron, 616 Mississippi River Blvd S, St Paul, MN 55116. Please note new start time! Same great ride, just at a faster(?) pace. With the daylight becoming shorter, I have moved the start time up and changed the Ride Level. We will have to pickup the pace and/or start this ride earlier to finish before sunset. Based on last weeks ride, that should not be a problem. Come climb every notable hill in St. Paul. We'll climb the High Bridge, Ramsey Hill and various others in this summer classic. Various routes in Champlin, Coon Rapids, Brooklyn Park and the Elm Creek Park Reserve. Mostly on bike paths off street, or quiet neighborhood streets. Midride break usually w/facilities. 2 WED 10:30 AM A/B 40 - 65 mi /w shortcuts avail. Wilds of WI. Depart from Weitkamp City Park on O'Neil Rd. Dir: I-94 to exit 2 (Carmichael Rd) in Hudson. South on Carmichael .6 mi, left on Hanley Rd .5 mi, left on O'Neil .1 mi to Pk on W side of rd. Same great routes, but new start loc. No water at start, so bring plenty. 2 WED 6:00 PM Night-C 15-30 mi. Maple(ss) Grove. Depart from Maple Grove Cycling & Fitness, 8121 Wedgewood Lane (corner of Grove Dr. and Wedgewood Ln, near Cub Foods). Take I-94 west to Weaver Lake Rd exit, head east to intersection with Elm Creek Blvd., turn right (south) to Grove Dr. (first left). This will be a mapless ride, following the roads and trails of Maple Grove. Possible destinations include the Elm Creek Park Preserve, Fish Lake Park, and the Coon Rapids Dam. We will be departing from the parking lot in front of Maple Grove Cycling & Fitness at the same time as a much faster group of riders, so make sure you're with the right bunch! 3 THU 8:30 AM B 32/52/72 mi. Thursdays on the Cannon. Depart from Welch Village Trailhead (Goodhue County 7, three miles south of Hwy. 61). We'll ride on two beautiful trails, the Cannon River Valley trail south to Red Wing, and continue on the new Hay Creek trail. It's 32 miles to the end of the Hay Creek trail and back to Welch. For the optional 52-mile route, we'll tack on a 20-mile round trip to Cannon Falls and back. For the 72 miles, we'll add a round trip to Red Wing. 3 THU 10:00 AM B/C 33 mi. LITTLE CANADA: BATTLE CREEK. Depart from Press Gym in The Market Place Center, 2900 Rice St. 1/2 mile north of County Rd. C. We will ride from Little Canada as far south as the Mississippi River and Battle Creek Indian Mounds Park. Maps and cue sheets will be available for faster or slower riders. One block SW off Hwy I-35E (exit 102). We will have a social ride on a select route out and back and have lunch at Buon Giorno Italia after ride. 5 SAT 9:30 AM 29/48/63 mi. ALL-CLUB RIDE. Depart from Snail Lake Picnic Pavilion on Snail Lake Blvd. in Shoreview. From 694 go north on Victoria and east on Snail Lake Blvd. TCBC’s summer-ending event. This ride offers three distances for all levels of riders. Ride briefing starts at 9:30, but it's best to come at least a half hour early due to expected large crowd (over 140 in nice weather). Buy a muffin before heading out for this ride in the city and country plus the whole Gateway Trail. Starting with the quiet solitude of the sunrise choose 1 of 3 mileage options. 6 SUN 6:45 AM A 151 mi. Sunday Sunrise Solitude. Depart from Perkins Restaurant, New Brighton [zipcode 55112], 2 blks west of I-35W on Cty Rd D. Park at far end of lot. This early-bird 151 mile route is the only one rated at an A ride level of the four routes offered through Sunday Sunrise Solitude (the other three routes are shorter and are rated at an A/B ride level). 6 SUN 8:00 AM A/B 65 mi. Rolling on the West Side. Depart from Holiday Gas Station Eden Prairie, Dell Road and 62. Three and half miles west of 494 on 62, park at far end of lot, next to Dell Rd. 6 SUN 9:00 AM A/B 52, 76, or 125 mi. Hills out of Prescott. Depart from Visitor Center in Prescott, WI. View main routes on p.132 of the Bike Atlas. I've added an extra 50 mile option totaling 125 miles and 9,700 ft of climbing. The extra loop goes from Esdaile to Maiden Rock to Plum City back to Esdaile then back on the main route. The 76 mile route has 5,500 feet of climbing. The 52 mile option is flatter but still has climbs. Directions to start: Turn right (south) on WI 35 from the bridge into Prescott, then right on Monroe in a mile or less. Prescott is on the other side of Cottage Grove, an easy drive from the cities. No restrooms at the ride start although they are open in the Visitor Center after the ride. There is a gas station as you enter WI. I check emails frequently so feel free to email. 6 SUN 9:30 AM B 31 or 44 mi. Scenic South Washington Byways. Depart from Ojibway Park in Woodbury. Exit I 494 at Lake Road. Go southeast on Lake Road to Courtly Road, left (east) on Courtly Road to Ojibway Park Drive, right (south) on Ojibway Park Drive. If lot is full, use adjacent high school lot. Scenic with some big hills. Lightly traveled rural back roads of Afton, Grey Cloud Island and Cottage Grove; trail through Cottage Grove Ravine Regional Park. 6 SUN 9:30 AM A/B 50-80 mi. WI HILLS MAIDEN ROCK. Depart from the park on the river in Maiden Rock, WI. Cross into Wisconsin at Prescott or Red Wing and take WI 35 south to the town of Maiden Rock on Lake Pepin, then turn towards the river on Chestnut St. Little-traveled rural roads with a few challenging hills. Watch for details on TCBC "Rides and Trips" message board during the week before ride. 6 SUN 9:45 AM B/C 24-30 mi. Sunday Morning to Hopkins. Depart from Painter's Community Park, 34th and Lyndale South, Minneapolis (across from Sonny's Ice Cream). Join us on Sunday mornings as we ride out to Hopkins using the beautiful trail system, going completely around Lake of the Isles, possibly downtown MSP before returning to Painter's Park. 6 SUN 4:00 PM B 34 mi. LIDO'S SUNDAY SUPPER RIDE. Depart from St. Athony Walmart, on W. side of Silver Lake Rd. just N. of 37th Ave. Park out in lot by Walmart sign near Freedom station. 7 MON 7:30 AM A 60-80+ mi. Dunn Early. Depart from Dunn Brothers Coffee East Lake Street and West River Road Minneapolis. Labor Day Special. Mapless Group ride for "A" Riders. We ride faster, longer and harder with minimal stops. We will do our level best to keep the group together. New Riders are always welcome to come and join us. Routes and pace vary from week to week and is determined by the group dynamics and wind direction on day of ride. A pleasant loop ride to a rest stop in a little-known town called Nowthen on country roads passing farms, horses & hawks, with a few gentle hills. Rain will cancel. 7 MON 9:30 AM B/C 30-50 mi. All Aboard for North Branch. Depart from Forest Lake City Hall parking lot, 220 North Lake Street, HWY 61 in downtown Forest Lake. From HWY I-35, exit 131 to Forest Lake and turn left on HWY 61 to City Hall, park in rear lot. We will labor on the Hardwood Creek/Sunrise Prairie paved rail road bed trail to North Branch where we will have a rest break, making our way to Hugo for a lunch stop at Subway before returning to the start in Forest Lake. This is a mapless ride traversing the entire length of this beautiful trail. What a better way to spend the last holiday of summer than on your bike with your biking buddies. Happy Trails!. Depart from Indian Mounds Park, St Paul - Mounds Boulevard & Earl St. This ride follows city streets and bike trails, offering scenic views of the Mississippi River, south Minneapolis lakes, and the skylines of the twin cities. We'll stop at the Birchwood Cafe for lunch, and at the Laughing Waters Bluegrass Festival in Minnehaha Park on the way back. Bring bike lock if you plan to stop at festival. Miles will decrease as daylight lessens) Enjoy the best cycling roads this side of Wisconsin! This old classic offers a flat start and finish with lovely hills in between. I've added an extra 50 mile option totaling 125 miles and 9,500 ft of up. This loop goes from Esdaile to Maiden Rock to Plum City back to Esdaile then back on the main route. The 76 miler has 5,500 feet of climbing. The 52 mile option is flatter but still has climbs. Directions to start: Turn right (south) on WI 35 from the bridge into Prescott, then right on Monroe in 1/2 mile. Prescott is on the other side of Cottage Grove, an easy drive from the cities. 19 SAT 9:30 AM B/C 36-62mi ROOT RIVER STATE TRAIL: RUSHFORD ON THE ROOT. Depart from Rushford Depot, downtown Rushford, MN. Come ride with B/C TCBC friends along the scenic Root River State Trail, as it winds through the small towns of Rushford, Peterson, Whalen, Lanesboro, and Houston in southern Minnesota. Depart from the Rushford Depot in downtown Rushford, MN for a round trip to Lanesboro (36 miles). Don’t forget to refresh your body and your waistline with a pie stop along the trail. Return to Rushford, then take an optional extension to Houston and return (25 miles). Late Saturday afternoon and early evening stop by the Windswept Inn to welcome brevet riders (375 miles) and help them find food and a place to nap as they stop in Rushford for a few hours before getting back on their bikes for a return to the Twin Cities. 20 SUN 9:00 AM A/B 52, 76, or 125 mi. Hills out of Prescott. Depart from Visitor Center in Prescott, WI. Directions to start: Turn right (south) on WI 35 from the bridge into Prescott, then right on Monroe in a mile or less. Amazing scenery, steep climbs, zero traffic roads: cycling paradise. View main routes on p.132 of the Bike Atlas. I've added a 50 mile option totaling 125 miles and 9,500 ft of climbing. The extra loop goes from Esdaile to Maiden Rock to Plum City back to Esdaile then back on the main route. The 76 mile route has 5,500 feet of climbing. The 52 mile option is flatter but still has climbs. Directions to start: Turn right (south) on WI 35 from the bridge into Prescott, then right on Monroe in a mile or less. Prescott is on the other side of Cottage Grove, an easy drive from the cities. No restrooms at the ride start although they are open in the Visitor Center after the ride. 20 SUN 11:00 AM MB 7/14/21 mi. Fat Tire Tour - Hillside Park. Depart from Hillside Park, 10801 181st Ave NW Elk River, MN. This is a fun trail that is well worth the ride. Over 7 miles of exhilarating single-track. Challenging, twisting and exciting. The trail has a lot of quick ups and downs. With no real sustained climbing, this trail isn't terribly physically demanding, that is unless you push the pace yourself. I enjoyed the rolling single-track meandering through the forests, crossing logs, and rocks. If obstacles aren’t your thing, nearly all of them have a ride-around option. Total ride distance of 7, 14 or 21 miles depending on how many laps you’d like to do. This a no drop ride open to riders of all abilities familiar with mountain biking. There will be no riders fee to ride at Hillside with the Fat Tire Tour courtesy of the Elk River Parks and Recreation Department – so come experience one of the best trails in the state! Turn left on Washington Ave (first stoplight past the Hwy 5 overpass) Take an immediate right on the frontage road for 1/4 mile to the Acapulco Restaurant on the left. ***(Note earlier departure. Miles will decrease as daylight lessens) Enjoy the best cycling roads this side of Wisconsin! This old classic offers a flat start and finish with lovely hills in between. Leader will set an easy pace for the first three miles to ensure a proper warm-up. The Acapulco Ride certainly attracts some faster pace riders, however, we draw an even larger group that tends to stay together at a much more relaxed A/B pace. Directions to start: Turn right (south) on WI 35 from the bridge into Prescott, then right on Monroe in a mile or less. Amazing scenery, big climbs, no traffic roads: cycling paradise. View main routes on p.132 of the Bike Atlas. I've added a 50 mile option totaling 125 miles and 9,500 ft of climbing. The extra loop goes from Esdaile to Maiden Rock to Plum City back to Esdaile then back on the main route. The 76 mile route has 5,500 feet of climbing. The 52 mile option is flatter but still has climbs. Directions to start: Turn right (south) on WI 35 from the bridge into Prescott, then right on Monroe in a mile or less. Prescott is on the other side of Cottage Grove, an easy drive from the cities. No restrooms at the ride start although they are open in the Visitor Center after the ride. 29 TUE 10:00 AM B 26-69 mi. Gateway Express. Depart from Maplewood Community Center, 2100 White Bear Ave., Maplewood, MN 55109. Please park at the south end of the parking lot. Water and bathrooms are available at the community center. This ride features the Gateway Trail, a scenic, shaded, and little wind trail. The ride has extensions into scenic Washington County. The easiest ride is doing the Gateway Trail out to Pine Point and back - 26 mi. Ride leader chooses which extensions to ride. Good maps and cue sheets of extensions provided. To reach the ride: From State Hwy 36 exit White Bear Ave., and go South approx., 1.5 mi. 29 TUE 4:30 PM A/B 30 mi. Cyclotherapy Ride. Depart from Linwood Community Center, Victoria and St. Clair Ave., St. Paul, Upper Parking Lot. 29 TUE 5:00 PM A 27-32 mi. Gears Tears & Fears. Depart from Temple of Aaron, 616 Mississippi River Blvd S, St Paul, MN 55116. Please note new start time! Same great ride, just at a faster(?) pace. With the daylight becoming shorter, I have moved the start time up and changed the Ride Level. We will have to pickup the pace and/or start this ride earlier to finish before sunset. Based on last weeks ride, that should not be a problem. Come climb every notable hill in St. Paul. We'll climb the High Bridge, Ramsey Hill and various others in this summer classic. Explore the northern Twin Cities metro area while riding through open meadows and tree-lined avenues of the Anoka Sand Plain. No rest stops available. 29 TUE 5:30 PM A/B 36/33/29/24 mi. THE ACAPULCO RIDE. Depart from The Valley Ridge Mall, Stillwater. From I-694, take Hwy 36 east for 6.5 miles. Turn left on Washington Ave (first stoplight past the Hwy 5 overpass) Take an immediate right on the frontage road for 1/4 mile to the Acapulco Restaurant on the left. ***(Note earlier departure. Miles will decrease as daylight lessens) Enjoy the best cycling roads this side of Wisconsin! This old classic offers a flat start and finish with lovely hills in between. Leader will set an easy pace for the first three miles to ensure a proper warm-up. The Acapulco Ride certainly attracts some faster pace riders, however, we draw an even larger group that tends to stay together at a much more relaxed A/B pace. The shorter routes offer the same flats with fewer climbs. If you've been hesitant to give this ride a try, by all means, check it out!!! Dinner on the patio afterward. 29 TUE 5:30 PM B 18-25 mi. TWO SKYLINES. Depart from The Coffee Grounds at 1579 Hamline Ave. in Falcon Heights, that's just north of Hoyt on Hamline. Don't park in The Coffee Grounds lot but on nearby streets or in the Como Lutheran Church lot at tha SW corner of Hamline & Hoyt. An urban ride featuring views of St. Paul & Minneapolis downtown skylines. The Coffee Grounds offers fine pre & post ride snacks & beverages. We'll take Summit Ave to St Paul and return via Lilydale Rd,Big River Trail & Mendota Bridge including en route stop at Axel's for lunch in downtown Mensota. Various routes in Champlin, Coon Rapids, Brooklyn Park and the Elm Creek Park Reserve. Mostly on bike paths off street, or quiet neighborhood streets. Midride break usually w/facilities. 30 WED 10:30 AM A/B 40 - 65 mi /w shortcuts avail. Wilds of WI. Depart from Weitkamp City Park on O'Neil Rd. Dir: I-94 to exit 2 (Carmichael Rd) in Hudson. South on Carmichael .6 mi, left on Hanley Rd .5 mi, left on O'Neil .1 mi to Pk on W side of rd. Same great routes, but new start loc. No water at start, so bring plenty. 30 WED 5:30 PM A/B 20 mi. Ride and Dine Around the World. Depart from the Roseville Professional Center (2233 Hamline Ave N in Roseville.) Park at west end of lot. Ride around the lakes and parks of the northeast metro. Following the ride, join your fellow world travelers at a different ethnic restaurant each week. Depart from Erik's Overflow Parking lot which is directly East of the Erik's Bike Shop across Texas Ave located just North of Minnetonka Blvd. We'll ride mostly on paved trails, painted bicycle lanes and/or low-traffic roads in the west metro area. 30 WED 6:00 PM Night-C 15-30 mi. Maple(ss) Grove. Depart from Maple Grove Cycling & Fitness, 8121 Wedgewood Lane (corner of Grove Dr. and Wedgewood Ln, near Cub Foods). Take I-94 west to Weaver Lake Rd exit, head east to intersection with Elm Creek Blvd., turn right (south) to Grove Dr. (first left). This will be a mapless ride, following the roads and trails of Maple Grove. Possible destinations include the Elm Creek Park Preserve, Fish Lake Park, and the Coon Rapids Dam. We will be departing from the parking lot in front of Maple Grove Cycling & Fitness at the same time as a much faster group of riders, so make sure you're with the right bunch! Depending on the route, opportunities for snacks and water along the way may be slim, but there are numerous dining/snack/water choices for before and after the ride. Front and rear lights required.
