West parking lot, south side (near the ball fields). A nice, leisurely ride on the roads and trails of Brooklyn Park and Brooklyn Center. We will follow roads and trails to the Coon Rapids Dam, cross over the river and head south on the East Mississippi River bike trail and E. River Road, then back to the west side of the river, north on the Shingle Creek bike trail and return to NHCC. There are ample opportunities for rest breaks and water along the route. 2 SAT 8:00 AM C 19/27mi BIKE TO BREAKFAST: KEYS TO THE CAPITOL. Depart from Centennial Church. 1524 West County Road C2, Roseville, corner of C2 and Snelling. The destination is Keys Cafe, 500 N. Robert in St. Paul just south of the Capitol. You don't really need more than one of their manhole-cover-sized pancakes. An urban ride mostly on roads but some trails with a great rest stop at Mellow Glaze Bakery and an after ride brunch on the piazza at Sonny's. Great food (everything is organic). 2 SAT 9:30 AM A/B 55 or 75 mi. WI HILLS PLUM CITY. Depart from the municipal parking lot next to the gas station on Main St (County U) just off of Hwy 10 at the north end of downtown Plum City, WI. Plum City is on US Hwy 10, about 35 miles east of Prescott, WI. Challenging hills and little-traveled rural roads. Watch for details on TCBC MSN "Rides and Trips" message board during the week before ride. If weather threatens, check "Ride Cancel Delay" message board at 7:00 AM or contact ride leader before 7:45 AM on morning of ride. Depart from Hudson Grandview Park, take I-94 east Wisconsin Exit 2, go north on Carmichael for 2 miles, park is on east side of road (across from St. Croix County Government Center), under the Hudson Water Tower (toilets & water at start). We will meander from Painters Community Park to the Midtown Greenway where we will traverse to Wendy's in beautiful Hopkins for a cool "frosty" treat. We will then make our way back to Painters Park using the trails and streets of Minneapolis. Turn left on Washington Ave (first stoplight past the Hwy 5 overpass) Take an immediate right on the frontage road for 1/4 mile to the Valley Ridge Mall and Acapulco Restaurant on the left. Note earlier departure. Miles will decrease as daylight lessens. Unwind on the beautiful backroads of the St. Croix River Valley. Outdoor dining after at Acapulco. 15-17 RIDE “DA RANGE” ON THE MESABI TRAIL. (Wheel pass is required. Cost is $3.00 for 2-day pass.) Join this C+ weekend ride on the Mesabi Trail and experience Minnesota’s Iron Range up close and personal. We will bike on the paved surface trail joining Eveleth, Hibbing, Buhl, Chisholm, and Giant’s Ridge, with optional visit to Ironworld which features a museum with exhibits telling the story of the Iron Range’s geology, mining, immigration, life-skills, and traditions. There is a 1920’s Mesabi Railway trolley ride which will take us through a mining “town” and show us the spectacular views of the Glen-Godfrey Open Pit Mine. On Friday, we will bike 8.5 miles from Hibbing to Ironworld in Chisholm and enjoy a visit to the Museum and Discovery Center (admission fee is $8.00) and then bike back to Hibbing for a 17-mile round trip. Or, those wishing can continue to Buhl for a 30-mile round trip route. Following the ride, dinner will be in Hibbing at Grandma’s In the Park which is located in the Hibbing Park Hotel. Depart from Bobby & Steve's Auto World, Lino Lakes: north of metro area on 35E to Exit 123 (Hugo/Centerville), go west (toward Centerville) 1/2 mile and turn left to get to parking lot on north/east edge of property. Make a full and fun day of it on this mostly rural ride around Forest Lake, through the Chisago Chain of Lakes and on to Taylors Falls for a leisurely lunch. Then cross the river into St. Croix Falls; the route includes a descent into (and climb out of) Interstate State Park on the Wisconsin side of the river. 30 SAT 9:30 AM 29/48/63 mi. ALL-CLUB RIDE. Depart from Snail Lake Park in Shoreview. We’ll be starting again at Snail Lake Park in Shoreview, the big pavilion at the top of the hill, NOT the parking lot by the beach. It has bathrooms, tables, and a big play area. Routes will again be northeast into Washington County. Mileages on the overlapping routes will be about 29, 48, and 63 miles, with the longest route running through Marine on St. Croix. We have reserved the big picnic shelter, with bathrooms and water, and riders are welcome to bring their own snacks or lunches to enjoy after the ride. There’s no need to make reservations for the ride. Please arrive in time to form into three groups for the leader briefing, which will start around 9:30 AM at the pavilion. (Late arrivers will have to park down at the beach.) Groups will start a few minutes apart. We hope to see many of you there! Park near Axel’s Bonfire restaurant, 1555 Cliff Road. A pleasant, with a few hills, that will tour through Rosemont, Apple Valley and Eagan. The ride includes a visit to Scherer’s Gardens, one of the largest and most gorgeous private flower gardens in the state, and finishes with lunch at the lovely outdoor patio of the Bonfire restaurant. 31 SUN 9:30 AM B/C 30-35 mi. Sunday Morning to Hopkins, Extended Tour. Depart from Painters Community Park, 34th & Lyndale South in Minneapolis (across from Sonny's Ice Cream). We will meander from Painters Community Park to the Midtown Greenway where we will traverse to Wendy's in beautiful Hopkins for a cool "frosty" treat. We will then make our way back to Painters Park using the trails and streets of Minneapolis. Cross into Wisconsin at Prescott or Red Wing and take WI 35 south to the town of Maiden Rock on Lake Pepin, then turn towards the river on Chestnut St. Challenging hills and little-traveled rural roads.
