Mountain
Bike (MB) Ride Considerations:
|
| 1. |
Experienced TCBC road riders new to mountain
biking should select TCBC MB rides that are at least one Ride Classification
lower than they normally ride "on-road". |
| 2. |
The "Technical Difficulty"
of MB rides will range from:
-
"MB-C - Simple": relatively smooth
and non-slippery trail surfaces, with fewer sharp corners, roots,
rocks, dips, bumps and drop-offs to:
-
"MB-A - Very Difficult": very
rough and slippery trail surfaces, with sharp fall-away corners,
and many roots, rocks, dips, bumps, drop-offs, as well as obstacles
both on the side and above the trail.
-
There will be progressively more of these difficult
technical conditions as the Ride Type goes from MB-C, to MB-B,
to MB-A/B, and finally, to MB-A
|
| 3. |
Mountain Bike rides will
abide by the International Mountain Biking Association (IMBA) "Rules
of the Trail
|
| 4. |
MB Rides should be cancelled in wet conditions
to prevent trail erosion |
| 5. |
MB rest stop/check point locations and
approximate times should be agreed upon before the start of the ride. |
| 6. |
On MB-B and MB-C rides, if someone is missing
from the group, the leader or a designee should go back and find them. |
