HELP NEEDED !!!

TCBC is an organization supported by a large group of volunteers. Our most visible are our Ride Leaders. However, volunteering comes in many forms such as volunteering for events, working on our website, newsletter and other committees, being a board member or club officer and many, many more ways.

We need your help to continue being a vibrant organization. To volunteer, or if you have questions about volunteering, send an email to volunteer{at}biketcbc{dot}org . Please provide the following information:

1. Put "Volunteer" in the email subject header so that our email system can filter it correctly, and
2. A telephone number and time of day where you can be contacted

Volunteer Opportunities

St Paul Classic Bike Tour - September 12, 2010

The St. Paul Classic Bike Tour is fast approaching. It happens on Sunday, September 12, 2010 and they are recruiting volunteers to act as ride marshals. TCBC as a community sponsor will provide a free helmet fitting station.

Volunteers pay no registration fee; receive a free commemorative t-shirt, snacks and undying gratitude. Afterwards you will be invited to a volunteer appreciation party with food and beverages on September 21st.

Ride Marshals
Previously, many ride marshals have been recruited from the Hiawatha Bike Club and TCBC. It is preferred that these volunteers be club trained ride leaders.

Ride marshals are being recruited for three routes – the 15 mile Summit Avenue Loop, the 24 mile Summit Avenue + new Lilydale Loop and the 30 mile St. Paul Grand Round. In previous years, many marshals have volunteered for more than one route.

Ride marshals for each route are needed starting at 7:45 am and each sequential 15 minutes thereafter through 10:15 am; i.e. 7:45, 8:00, 8:15, etc. They also need help with a final sweep run of each course at 10:30 am.

The ride marshal will ride an assigned section of the course guiding cyclists to stay to the right, and assisting with bike mechanicals. They must be able to change a flat tire and help with minor bike mechanicals like chain drops and stuck brakes. Ride marshals are asked to carry their cell phone during the ride.

Interested persons should email kim{at}bikemn{dot}org. Please include in your email the route and time you wish to volunteer along with address information including cell phone, telephone and t shirt size s, m, l, xl.

Helmet Fittings
TCBC will sponsor a free helmet fitting station where tour participants can get checked out. Volunteers need to know the basics of proper helmet fit. See TCBC Bicycling 101 for details: http://www.biketcbc.org/tips/bt-101-14-Helmet Fit.htm. In addition to helmet fittings we will distribute TCBC brochures and safety handouts.

We are seeking 8 volunteers to help set up, staff and take down the helmet fitting station. Hours will be from 6:30 – 9:30 am. Interested persons should email volunteer{at}biketcbc{dot}org with availability, address information including cell phone and t shirt size s, m, l, xl.

Annual Halloween Ride - Saturday, October 30

Buffet Servers - Seeking 5 volunteers to help serve the buffet between 10:45 am and 1:00 pm. Buffet will be in Vadnais Heights. Interested persons should contact marina_lim@hotmail.com.
